Is Tizen 2.3 a direct threat to Android? Our answer is NO. Android penetration has gone to a level, where it is not easy for other mobile OS to catch up with it so easily, unless the new OS is completely transformational. If we compare former generations of Tizen mobile operating system, the newer one does looks definitely enhanced. We did not spot any drastic functional improvements except that the UI now looks more optimized as it fits right across the smaller screen resolution. The aim of the Tizen operating system is to focus more on the long-end & mid-range smartphones.

General Observation & Verdict

Tizen 2.3 is definitely an interesting OS. We are awaiting eagerly for its launch. One area we will keenly be excited about is how it is better than Android Kitkat/Lollipop. While Android comes with App-store, we haven’t heard any thing about Tizen 2.3 App-store yet. Lastly, we would like to see the price range of these phones.
