MG Majestor Set for India Unveil on 12 February: Flagship SUV Raises the Bar

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to make a bold statement in the premium SUV space with the official unveiling of the MG Majestor on 12 February. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo last year, the Majestor is now inching closer to its much-anticipated market debut, with the brand putting final touches on launch preparations.

MG Majestor

Positioned above the MG Gloster, the upcoming Majestor will take on the role of MG’s flagship internal combustion engine (ICE) SUV in India. Recent sightings of near-production test mules on Indian roads suggest that the SUV is in the final stages of development, hinting that its launch timeline is right on track.

Bold, Upright and Built to Impress

The MG Majestor is expected to wear a commanding road presence, staying true to its flagship positioning. Design highlights are likely to include:

  • A bold, upright stance

  • Blacked-out front grille

  • Vertically stacked LED headlamps with slim LED DRLs

  • Chunky skid plates for a rugged appeal

  • Distinctive alloy wheels

Underpinning the Majestor is a ladder-frame platform, reinforcing its focus on toughness, durability, and off-road capability—qualities that Indian SUV buyers continue to value in this segment.

  • Large touchscreen infotainment system

  • Fully digital instrument cluster

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Wireless charging

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

MG’s emphasis on tech and comfort suggests the Majestor will aim to deliver a refined, feature-rich experience that matches its premium aspirations.

Powerful Diesel Heart with 4WD Capability

Powering the MG Majestor is expected to be a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. This setup is tuned to produce an impressive 213bhp and 478Nm of torque, promising strong performance both on highways and off the beaten path.

Rivals and Market Positioning

Once launched, the MG Majestor will compete in the highly competitive premium three-row SUV segment, taking on established players such as the Toyota Fortuner Legender and the Skoda Kodiaq. With its rugged ladder-frame architecture, powerful diesel engine, and feature-loaded cabin, MG is clearly aiming to carve out a strong niche in this space.

Citroen C3 - Honest Pros & Cons

While it is not wise to call C3 a compact SUV however it's a crossover from hatch to a compact SUV - something in between. Keeping in mind the price-conscious Indian car buyer, C3 is high on the localisation. The made-in-India C3 is derived from the  PSA's Common Modular Platform.

The all new Citroen - C3 | Bookings Open

For now, only 2 variants - Live and Feel are up for grabs. There are two engine options - an 81 BHP, 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol mated to a 5-speed MT, and a 109 BHP turbocharged petrol mated to a 6-speed MT. However, it lags the automatic variant.

Design & Styling

Citroen's design language is unconventional and disruptive. Though dimensions are proportionate it feels like a well-designed SUV but compressed in size, like the Tata Punch.

The C3 measures 3,981 mm in length, 1,733 mm in width, and 1,604 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,540 mm which is more than the Tata Punch (2,445 mm), and the Nissan Magnite & Renault Kiger (2,500 mm). You don't get alloy wheels as standard, but as an optional add-on.

The Infotainment system - Apple Carplay & Android Auto

Wheels & Tyres

The Citroen C3 is offered with 15-inch steel wheels as standard with 'Tessera' wheel covers. You can opt for alloy wheels as an option.

The standard tyre size is 195/65 R15 for both, naturally aspirated and turbo petrol variants and have a speed limit of 80 km/h.

PricingMaruti Suzuki XL6 is currently priced from Rs. 11.29 lakh to Rs. 14.55 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi)

Verdict: Suzuki has competition from Suzuki i.e. Maruti Showrooms vs. Nexa Showrooms. We feel Ertiga is better value for money option overall especially those under tight budget. None the less, XL6 is a good MPV and even base variant has many good things to offer.
