Pros&Cons: Coolpad Note 3

Pros:

1) Coolpad (a Chinese smartphone manufacturer) has finally launched its Note 3 smartphone in India post its official launch, exclusively available via Amazon India at Rs. 8,999 or just $140

2) It can be claimed as one of the best affordable smartphone available in the Asian /Indian market today for the price vs specs

3) Coolpad Note 3 is a 4G LTE dual-SIM supporting smartphone which runs Cool UI 6.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop

4) In terms of hardware, which is its USP as well the phone is a power house – it sports 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixel) IPS display (viewing angle up to 178 degrees) and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor coupled with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM

5) It offers a 16GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 64GB)

6) Phone also feature some amazing imaging capabilities i.e. it features a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 5 Element HD Lens, alongside a 5-megapixel front-facing camera which is further powered by a CMOS image sensor for better image quality

7) In terms of talk-time, this phone bears a powerful 300mAh battery which is decent enough to fuel your day

8) One impressive feature that phone offers is the fingerprint sensor which supports a 360-degree finger rotation, and offer speedy recognition in 0.5 seconds

9) Other features which you normally do not expect in sub Rs 10,000 phone which would blow you away are multi-window mode, double tap wake up, and smart gesture

10) In terms of comparison, it definitely has an edge over Yureka Yu, Redmi, Samsung & other players like Lava, Karbon & Moto phones

Cons:

1) In term of cons, Coolpad is not established brand in India & hence buyers could be apprehensive in making a buying decision

2) As alluded above, due to lack of brand presence after-sales services is under scanner

3) The phone is not available at the retail store and you can only buy it via Amazon that too with a pre-order

4) 1.3 Ghz & 3 GB RAM makes coupling a little uncommon, we would have expected it to be atleast 1.4/1.5 Ghz which perfectly blends with 3 GB RAM & buyers won’t mind paying some extra bucks for the same

5) Phone is just available in two color variant – Black & White
